Bobino Bagel is coming to Hull this summer

May 10, 2023

Hull will be home to the Outaouais' first Montreal-style bagel factory and shop this summer. Located at 61 Laurier Street, across from the Canadian Museum of History, Bobino Bagel will be the destination for the region's tastiest bagels, craft beers and locally-made products.

A nod to the longest-running children's show in Quebec history, Bobino Bagel is located in the neighborhood of the real Bobino. In fact, Guy Sanche, the actor who created and portrayed the Bobino character from 1957 to 1985 on Radio-Canada, was a native of Hull.

Bobino Bagel's chef, Éric Auclair, a pastry chef by trade, spent nearly two years perfecting his recipe to arrive at a product of exceptional quality.

The opening is scheduled for the summer of 2023 and the media will be invited to a press conference and menu tasting.

Bobino Bagel, the brainchild of the Gatineau-based creative agency Orkestra, was made possible by a generous grant from the Programme de revitalisation pour la relance du centre-ville, funding from Desjardins and contributions from Brigil, the site’s owners.

Quotes

"A few years ago, Orkestra's management team decided that we were ready to take financial stakes in projects we were passionate about and that contributed to the growth and well-being of the beautiful city of Gatineau. We hope that the opening of a new destination for residents and tourists will contribute to the economic revival of our downtown. For all these projects, our role is to leverage our agency’s creative expertise and to work with trusted partners who know the industry inside out. For Bobino, we leave the bagels to the professionals." - Alex Van Dieren, co-president, Orkestra

"I am very happy to see that downtown Gatineau is the place chosen by the great Bobino Bagel team to establish their business. The Programme de revitalisation pour la relance du centre-ville (Downtown Revitalization Program) was put in place for exactly this type of initiative. We all look forward to encouraging them and enjoying their products! - Ms. France Bélisle, Mayor of Gatineau

"We are very excited to welcome Bobino Bagel to downtown Gatineau. The dynamism and creativity that Orkestra has demonstrated over the past few years make us certain of one thing: their new business will definitely become a must-visit attraction in the downtown area. We thank them for choosing to establish themselves in the downtown area and thus contribute to its vitality. - Annie-Pier Caron Daviault, Executive Director, Vision centre-ville Gatineau

"As city builders, and as owners of the premises, we are proud to support Bobino Bagel. We believe that local businesses are essential to the promotion of culture and the creation of dynamic living environments. We look forward to the products, services and experiences that the Bobino Bagel team has in store for residents and visitors to the area." - Jessy Desjardins, Vice President, Development and Design, Brigil

"Desjardins Entreprises is proud to be this great project’s financial partner and to support the Orkestra team in its creation. Associating ourselves with this creative and dynamic team is a natural fit. We support and encourage their initiatives, each more original than the last, and we always recognize their efforts to revitalize our region at all levels. Being able to get involved in a project that helps revitalize the downtown area is certainly important to us. - Martin Richer, General Manager, Desjardins Entreprises Outaouais
