START OF WORK FOR DOLLARD-DES-ORMEAUX

November 24, 2022

Brigil announces the start of construction of its new Dollard-des-Ormeaux project, which will be built at 210 Papineau Street in the Hull sector. The first phase of this development involves the strategic deconstruction of the buildings currently in place. Through this process, Brigil hopes to reuse, recover, and recycle construction materials - an approach that will divert nearly 25% of the material destined for landfill.

The new rental community will consist of 110 apartments, spread over 10 floors, with an outdoor rooftop terrace and indoor parking. With 20 three-bedroom units, proximity to elementary and high schools, and easy access to public transit, Dollard-des-Ormeaux will attract young families to live in this vibrant and blossoming neighbourhood.

"The revitalization of downtown Gatineau is everyone's business," says Gilles Desjardins, founding president of Brigil. "This urban heartland must become a place to live, not just a destination, and that means attracting new residents and young families.”

Brigil is proud to be able to break ground on land that was acquired as a co-ownership in 2014 and purchased in its entirety in 2018. The project, which is in line with the orientations of the Special planning program for the downtown core (PPU centre-ville), was unanimously supported by the municipal council of the City of Gatineau and will significantly reduce its environmental footprint:

The project will benefit from LEED certification, a globally recognized symbol of success in sustainable development.

Proximity to essential services and the strong public transit system that serves the area will reduce dependence on the automobile.

The densification of the downtown area will encourage local purchasing, counteract urban sprawl and maximize the use of existing municipal services.

The white roof and 58 underground parking spaces will help reduce heat islands.

Completion is scheduled for 2025.
