BRIGIL proposes $45,000 to green causes
Gatineau, April 26th 2018 – BRIGIL proposes to the city of Gatineau to give a sum of $45,000$ to green causes.
This offer is on the table even if the city of Gatineau lost in court in a prosecution case against the company. There's only one condition: Gatineau may not appeal the decision of the municipal court.
"BRIGIL exists to build a great quality of life in Gatineau and around. I would prefer to invest $45,000 on tree plantation and green spaces instead of paying legal fees", says BRIGIL president, Gilles Desjardins.
"Environment is really important in all BRIGIL projects, add Gilles Desjardins. We build and offer quality of life before anything else. Green and natural spaces are linked to our policy. We don't want to fight in court and we hope the city of Gatineau shares this vision."
The facts
This case started in 2016, when the city of Gatineau accused the company of cutting trees without a permit on a wooded field, located on Klock road, in Aylmer. BRIGIL received a $35,500 fine, a sum exceeding the maximum amount.
The company's goal was to create a vegetation cover that would be used to plant more than 20,000 trees.
Gilles Desjardins reminds everyone that, from day one, he wanted to give $17,500 to Gatineau's green Fund. But when the company received the fine, Mr Desjardins has decided to challenge it.
BRIGIL's offer has been declined by the city of Gatineau. Worst, the city sent a new fine of $44,375.
Even if the city's accusation has been rejected, Gilles Desjardins admits that he has committed errors in good faith in this case. And he apologized for it.
