Brigil will soon launch phase III at the Domaine du Vieux-Port

Gatineau, November 22th 2017 – Brigil is ready to build the third phase of the Domaine du Vieux-Port, twenty years after acquiring the land where projects I & II were to be developed, a 32 wooded area near Alonzo-Wright Bridge.

Brigil CEO, Gilles Desjardins, walked this land for the first time in 1989. Thirty-two acres site natural beauty is its first quality, according to Gilles Desjardins. Thanks to his patience and resoluteness, Mr Desjardins have been able to buy, in 1998, the site where single family homes of Domaine du Vieux-Port I & II now sits. He then bought, in March 2012, the portion where the third phase will be erected.

According to Gilles Desjardins, the third phase will be built within the same vision and will than the first two: a signature project which residents and people of the county would be proud of. So, it is really important for Gilles Desjardins to safeguard this land. That’s why Brigil will protect 70% of the land, especially the creek and the river bank, and hundreds of mature and centennial trees. Residents will enjoy landscaped trails in the heart of this ravishing site.

Gilles Desjardins compares third phase’s vibe to a wooden oasis for professionals and young and active retirees. The first tower will include a shop along with modern and luxurious condos and apartments.

The first condos tower of the third phase will be finished in autumn 2020 and is already 90% sold. The tower will offer a hotel lifestyle with luxurious suites to rent and condos on higher ground. A bistro, a café and lot of services will be available on ground floor, a Brigil trademark. Residents will also have access to a dynamic roof, with a pool, a gym and a jacuzzi, while enjoying the scenery and surrounding nature.

Mr Desjardins also wants to build trails and a spa accessible to the public on the river bank. A great addition on this 1.3 million square feet land. Those infrastructures will be carved in the natural settings of the site, forging a relaxing environment in front of the Gatineau River and near Alonzo-Wright Bridge. BRIGIL’s challenge is to create an innovative spa that will promote relaxation with a therapeutic thermal cycle, massage and body care, as well as meditation with yoga sessions in nature. This new trend will bring its guests into an experience where all the senses will be stimulated, mixed with the perfumes of essential oils, allowing an escape from the hassle of everyday life in a peaceful and intimate atmosphere. A medical clinic will also be opened for the public and the residents of this bucolic environment.

A bistro and a café will give the residents the opportunity to discover the treasures of the national capital region’s terroir.

This site will also offer access to a private marina and a beautiful natural beach. The marina and harbor master’s office will provide access to one of the largest and the most beautiful nautical networks in Canada.

The final step of this phase III will be reserved for seniors who need specialized health care in an evolving care concept.
Residents will continue to live in their community.

The founding president of BRIGIL says he obtained the green light for phase 3 from Gatineau’s planning service on October 3rd. Mr. Desjardins remains confident of obtaining the last municipal approval for the phase 3 infrastructure works, on December 12, five years after the purchase of the last portion. The latter indicated that this approval was to be obtained on October 22nd, but had to be moved by the City to December 12th.

The Ministry of the Environment should be in a position to put the final seal in February and thus start the construction of this magnificent project.

PHASE «2» of the Domaine du Vieux-Port

For phase II, BRIGIL obtained all the authorizations from the City and will start the extension of the central street and of the construction work for 31 new-generation contemporary single-family dwellings, 15 of which are on the edge of the river with developed land and 16 with river views and rooftop terrace. All with LEED* eco housing certification.

Since its founding in 1985, the mission of BRIGIL has remained the same: “Proud to build a quality of life”. For more than thirty years, BRIGIL remains strongly involved in its community, as much by its leadership, its philanthropic contribution as its thirst to answer the needs of the consumers with innovative and contemporary projects. Respect for the mission has enabled BRIGIL to win numerous industry awards and environmental recognition.
