PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Based on the report from the City of Gatineau, Brigil’s project impacts only five (5) buildings that do not have high assigned heritage value according to the City of Gatineau’s records.

Brigil wishes to provide additional information to put into perspective some issues regarding the Place des Peuples and the heritage zoning of the museum district.

First, as already mentioned, Gilles Desjardins and Brigil are in favour of heritage protection, but for the right reasons!

Second, regarding the buildings; as the attached map shows, there are five (5) buildings involved, three of which have medium to low heritage value and two with no recognized heritage value in the City’s reports. (Click here to see the City of Gatineau’s documentation).

The project’s primary objectives are diversification, local shopping, harmony with the environment, nature and avant-garde architecture, which will revitalize and densify the downtown core.

These objectives are also central to the City of Gatineau’s special planning program (SPP).

Brigil hopes that the heritage recognition of the entire district’s zone is not intended to be a barrier to its project.

Brigil is going to invite the public to a townhall discussion about this large project, which is intended to bring together the entire population of Gatineau.
